Hi. I’m Alex McMahon.
I am currently pursuing the Master of Music in Instrumental Conducting at Wichita State University in Wichita, KS. While I’m in Wichita, I’m trying to focus on conducting and integrating technology into my teaching and learning. During the upcoming 2011-2012 school year, I will be the director of the WSU “Shocker Sound” Basketball Band, and graduate conducting assistant. During the 2010-2011 school year I was the graduate assistant for the Jazz and Wind bands at WSU, primarily organizing the 2011 WSU Jazz Invitational, creating rehearsal schedules, maintaining databases, and everything else that involves organization and technology. I am originally from Central Ohio, growing up outside Columbus approximately 30 miles away in a small town called Hebron. I attended and graduated from Lakewood Local Schools in Hebron, OH. After high school, I attended Capital University- Conservatory of Music where I studied music education, graduating in May of 2009 with a Bachelor of Music Education. Prior to studying/working at WSU, I worked as a general music teacher in Decatur, Illinois for the 2009-10 school year.
